The little West African island of Cape Verde is very well known for its tourism. What a lot of people don’t know about this island is that like many African countries, it has a strong musical heritage. One artist who is currently upholding that heritage is — NENNY, our focus for today with the song “Tequila”
The song opens up with a sample of the voice of a young Michael Jackson at an interview. While describing his music and his performances in the interview, Michael says “ I don’t sing it if I don’t mean it”. That kind of conviction is apparent throughout this NENNY song. She sings and raps every single word with so much confidence that you have to pay attention to what she is saying. She is able to able to find the balance between rapping and singing in a way that not many artists can, It’s simply breathtaking.
